More information arrives from Pax East 2014 on Telltale’s Tales from the Borderlands. It is already known that the story will be told from two different perspectives. Those characters will be Rhys, a Hyperion worker, and Fiona who is a con artist. At predetermined points in time, the story will shift between the two. Certain events will also be told from both perspectives. Rhys and Fiona are relating the story back to a mysterious stranger who they meet after the events have already occurred. Telltale also claims that money will be an important part of the game, owing to the way the game starts off with a decision on whether to take a briefcase of money from a violently ill man.
Co-Creator of Tales from the Borderlands, Harrison Pink, says “What we’re trying to do is use money in the game as agency.” For example, if the money isn’t taken then the character may not have enough funds for a conversation option later. Telltale also says that there will be gun-play in the game, as that is an intricate part of Borderlands. Also highlighted were a few supporting characters. There is Vaughn, a slightly cowardly Hyperion accountant who has a brotherly relationship with Rhys. Felix, a professional counterfeiter who has a shaky father-like relationship with Fiona. Sasha, Fiona’s latest mark, who has physical capabilities. And Bossanova, a bandit lord with a giant speaker in his chest. Bossanova has some bad blood with Zer0 from Borderlands 2.
Tales from the Borderlands will be a downloadable title.
