Fans of the Mortal Kombat series will be delighted to see that PDP is going to release a special remote themed specifically for the up and coming Mortal Combat and designed specifically for fighting games and thanks to a CES 2015 attendee from CNET, Brian Tong, photos for the gamepad can be see for all to gawk at. Along with the pictures, Brian Tong also made a video which I will post at the bottom of this article.
The one thing you will probably notice is that the joystick is not included on the gamepad. Another game changer this controller brings is both the orientation and enlargements of the buttons. All these features are added in order to help simulate the feeling of playing on an arcade machine (and to allow for optimal button smashing capabilities).
There is also one little tweak to this controller in the button aspect that I’m sure many gamers will appreciate, and that is the micro switches found underneath the buttons. This nifty little feature will allow the buttons to pop right back up and not just sink in.
Another nice feature of this game is the little toggle that can be seen towards the bottom-front of the controller. Since the game will be launching on the Xbox 360/Xbox One and Playstation 3/Playstation 4, this little toggle will allow players to use one remote for both the new-gen and previous-gen of whatever console they will be playing the game on.
Of course the images above only show the Xbox model for the controller, but not much else should be expected in terms of changes to the controller other than the logo at the top when it comes to the Playstation model. No price has been reveled for the controllers yet, but that information is sure to surface soon.
Mortal Kombat X will be released on April 14 of this year for the aforementioned consoles along with a PC release. Until then, we will have to settle for button smashing on Super Smash Bros. or any other great fighting game.
*cough cough* Raging Blast 2 *cough*
