MSI hired Hollywood veteran Colie Wertz in order to come up with a brand new laptop design. The result of that unexpected collaboration has been announced today in the form of the MSI GE66 Raider Dragonshield Limited Edition. As you can tell from the length of that name alone, MSI went all out on with this thing.

But that’s what was to be expected from a project that started by commissioning a design from one of the most celebrated sci-fi artists of the 21st century.

For the uninitiated, Mr. Wertz’s portfolio includes Hollywood blockbusters like Iron Man, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Captain America, Civil War, the Star Wars Prequels, and dozens of other such titles.

Quite frankly, the MSI GE66 would not look out of place in any of those movies. The newly unveiled laptop features some rather elaborate art that blends futuristic shapes with the traditional concept of a dragon, like its name suggests.

Beneath the hood is a 10th-generation Intel Core i9 processor paired with NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 2080 GPU for maximum portable gaming power. Unsurprisingly, this powerhouse is set to debut at a maximum price, as well, at least relative to your average gaming laptop.

More specifically, U.S. consumers will be able to buy the MSI GE66 Raider Dragonshield Limited Edition from the second half of September, starting at $2,899.
