Developer Naughty Dog has had a 30th anniversary tribute video released on Sony’s PlayStation YouTube channel.
The 50-minute documentary focuses on the rise of Naughty Dog in the gaming industry and the prominent titles and franchises they’ve produced, including Rings of Power, Crash Bandicoot, Uncharted, Jak and Daxter and The Last of Us.
The founders of Naughty Dog — Andy Gavin and Jason Rubin — return for the 30th anniversary documentary alongside former developers, while current employees from the company and Shuhei Yoshida, president of Sony’s Worldwide Studios, talk about the past, present and future of one of the most distinguished studios in the world.
“I don’t think there was any way for Andy and I to predict where we were going when we were young,” Rubin explains during the introductory monologue. “It was something we did because we loved it, truly, making games.
“I had always thought that Andy and I, as a team, were going to be successful, but, you know, Naughty Dog — who would have thought you’d create Naughty Dog?”
