No word on a Western release.
A report from Famitsu (via CVG) reveals that a new Godzilla game is in the works at Bandai Namco. The game, whose working title is simply “Godzilla,” is set for a winter release in Japan, but no word yet as to whether we can expect a Western release. The game will be a Playstation 3 exclusive.
According to the article, the game will span multiple Godzilla eras, enabling the player to assume the role of the great lizard, and to take on various missions derived from the extensive Godzilla lore, including the 2014 film. Most of these missions will be centered around destroying cities or fighting other giant monsters. The game is designed to resemble the older film releases, with emphasis on recreating classic camera angles, screen tints and special effects. Bandai Namco also released a trailer showcasing the game (below).

Godzilla has been the subject of many popular video games in the past, although the West has not seen its own versions of these games in the years following the release of the 1998 critical flop, which dissuaded developers from making those games available in the west. Although there is no word on a potential Western release of this most recent effort, the success of the 2014 film could have emboldened Bandai Namco to give us a taste of that sweet, sweet atomic breath. Stay tuned.
