You probably have received an invitation to give the new Google Maps a try. If you’re a lover of Mother Earth then all the more that you need to try this new offering by Google. Well, it must be noted that this is only available through invitation and will not likely replace the classic version of the current maps very soon.
According to many internet users, specifically those who often use Google Maps, the new interface is probably the most radical change made on the online mapping of the web browser since it was launched in 2005.
What used to be a not-so enticing tab that would greet you when you open one, the new Google Maps with the Earth View makes it possible for users like you to take a good look at beautiful satellite messages of the planet. Right now, if you have the updated online mapping, you may or may not see the Google Earth view and other 3D features depending on the browser that you prefer to use and your computer or laptop.
One of the impressive features of the updated Google Maps is its ‘Explore’ box which can be found at the bottom part of the page combining street views, static photos and panorama. This would prove as the best way of finding places and exploring them like you’re physically in the place you’re searching for even if you’re only sitting on your chair.
With the new Google Maps, it would be easier to use the first-person navigation especially if you’re driving. What you would just need to do is turn on the navigation with a tap on the Compass icon. This icon works as a toggle so if you would like to go back to the map view, you’ll just have to tap the same icon again.
The new Google Maps is building on the MapGL experiment. It does away with plugins and focused on providing its user with a neater interface which is suitable for mobile phones. Since it requires a lot of resources like RAM for instance, the updated Google Maps might not work well if you would use an old computer. Of course, this update is still a work in progress but this is indeed a great way to find places nevertheless.
