A new trailer has been released today, outlining some of the features of Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor, set for release this fall. The short trailer, titled ‘Weapons and Runes’, showcases some of the customization aspects available to players in the game.
One in an upcoming series of trailers, this sneak peek gives players a glimpse of the rune system used in the game, along with the main character Talion’s arsenal of weapons. Players can upgrade any of Talion’s three weapons- his sword Urfael, his bow Azkâr and his dagger Acharn- with runes they collect throughout the game.
As the trailer shows, runes are gained upon killing enemy captains, and can be combined with multiple other runes to devastating effect. On top of the standard runes available, players can also collect ‘epic runes’ by following a certain sequence of events, culminating in Talion killing an enemy war chief. These runes are more powerful than standard runes and, according to the studio behind the game, Monolith, promise to, “make Talion’s weapons even more legendary”.
Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor is set for release on October 7th 2014, on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC.
