New gameplay for CD Project Red‘s upcoming release – The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has surfaced online showing beautiful and mesmerizing material. The video shows the protagonist Geralt exploring a vast and delicate swamp. The gameplay shows us Geralt tracking a woman with “ashen hair”, leading to a small creature named “Johnny.”

The video was originally previewed by CD Project Red during E3 at a ‘live presentation’, however the new and longer video shows us much more.

Based on the gameplay, we know that the woman with ashen hair is Ciri, whom is being pursued by the Wild Hunt. Geralt is charged by the Nilfgaardian emperor, Emhyr var Emreis to capture Ciri. That’s a mouthful. In The Witcher books Ciri is Geralt’s adopted daughter, which could prove a difficult story to play. That’s if the developers are staying as close to the books as they say.

The video showcases Geralt’s Witcher sense, somewhat similar to the ‘Instinct’ mode in Hitman: Absolution. In the immerse swamp, Geralt is searching for a Godling, whom are wood spirits in the form of small children. Geralt finds a hut with his Witcher mode and seeks a conversation with Johnny. He asks for help in finding Ciri as it is “very important” to him. Johnny admits he has seen the woman, but without the ability to speak he cannot offer his counsel. Geralt offers to help Johnny to regain his speech in an effort to gain information.

At this point, it is safe so say that the graphics are perfectly made, if not better in gameplay compared to the cut scenes. As the gameplay continues, we are brought to a forest and encounter savage swamp beasts, Drowners. This is where the combat is truly showcased. Geralt’s swift movements and quick-menu containing spells and abilities quickly take down all the Drowners. Severing limb from limb, stomping the ground to blast enemies away are backed with excellent gore and a responsive environment. The physics in the game are immaculate, with the response time on-point. The character models are full of life and dynamic, creating an impressive look and atmosphere to the game.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is an excellent contender for the best RPG of 2014/2015, especially due to the popularity at E3.The Witcher 3 will be coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC on February 24th 2015.
