Should Nexus 6 Be Upgraded From The Galaxy Nexus?

by GH Staff

There has been a time in the history of smartphones when the Samsung Galaxy Nexus was considered to be the main topic of discussion owing to its impressive features and outstanding capabilities as compared to other devices. Despite some flaws about its poor battery performance and poor camera, it still had a good reputation worldwide. This device was launched in 2011. At the moment, Nexus 6 is on its way into the market. This text is aimed at finding out if the users of Samsung Galaxy Nexus will consider to change and upgrade into using the Google Nexus 6.
Let us first consider the design of this devices. Galaxy Nexus was made totally of plastic, which means it had nothing special that it could showcase in terms of display, apart from the large curve that it had. On the other hand, the Nexus 6 had an aluminum ring which completely finished up its sleek design. Since Google started making the Nexus series of devices, this was the first time aluminum was being used to entirely cover a smartphone. At the time it was launched, Galaxy Nexus had a fairly large display during that time, featuring a 4.65 inch display.

However, Nexus 6 had a better display with a larger screen size of 6 inches. This display I perfectly complemented with a screen resolution of 2560×1440. This improvement is very obvious because this 2k resolution display is far much above what Galaxy Nexus could offer.
One very big improvement witnessed between these two devices is the battery capacity. The battery came out of the box with the Galaxy Nexus was very poor and could easily give you a headache. This battery lasted for a very short time and could go off when you are performing very important tasks. This means that the device requires frequent charging hence it wasn’t a very good option for long distance travelers. In contrast to that, Nexus 6 comes fitted with a very huge 3200mAh battery that will work everything in your favor. The battery found in the Galaxy Nexus is just 1750mAh.
The processor found in the Galaxy Nexus is a 1.2GHz dualcore processor with an option of a 16GB or 32 GB of internal storage. It features 1GB of RAM which operates with the processor speed. It also has a 5MP rear camera and a 1.3 front facing lens camera. The maximum resolution that it can peacefully support is 1080p. On the other hand, Nexus 6 comes with a 2.7 GHz Quad core Processor with Snapdragon 805. This processor is backed with a 3GB RAM with an option of 32GB or 64GB of internal storage. Its rear camera features a 13MP camera and the front facing lens of 2MP.
While the Galaxy Nexus only received updates up to the Jelly Bean Android Version, Google Nexus 6 is privileged to come out of the box with the latest Android Version, Android 5.0 Lollipop, which obviously predicts a bright future for this device. This means that it will readily be updated to any new android version that comes later on. It is therefore evident that the Galaxy Nexus isn’t at the same league with Nexus 6. Given an opportunity to select, everybody will definitely go for Nexus 6.
