Now, how does this device match with the company’s major rivals in the media player market?

What Google did was come up with a partnership with Asus in creating this streaming media player which is powered by a quad-core 1.8GHz Intel Atom processing unit with built-in memory of 8GB. It is complimented with RAM of 1GB and GPU which is PowerVR Series 6.

The Nexus Player comes with a controller to enhance the gaming experience of its user and Google backed this device with Chromecast which will prove to be its winning feature. With Chromecast, not only will the user be able to stream his or her favorite applications but also play various contents from other devices like tablet, smartphone or laptop.

Now the Nexus Player is quite similar with the offering of Amazon with the same remote that has voice search button which is placed on exactly the same part of the device.

With very tight competition in the market, Google’s new streaming media player must do something to rule the living rooms. It can leverage on Google Play Store by offering early run movies and great deals on TV shows so that the users will no longer have any reason to go to iTunes. It should also make sure that users won’t have experience delay in loading their apps and hang-ups in operating the device.
