[dropcap size=dropcap]J[/dropcap]ust a few days before the official launch date of the Sony’s new Playstation 4 gaming console, EA Sports has announced that Need for Speed: Rivals will be released earlier than expected! Initially, the release date was November 22, a week after the launch of PlayStation 4 and on the same day with the launch of Xbox One. EA has changed their plans and Rivals was released on the same day with the new PS4 console! “Need for Speed Rivals” will be released on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC on November 19.

After a long absence, NFS Rivals marks the return of the Ferrari cars. Therefore, after more than 10 years, you can get behind the wheel of a Ferrari, racing through the streets like crazy, though perhaps not as crazy as you were able to drive it back in the days of NFS 2, when the car was literally able to fly on certain routes.

Unfortunately, we were hoping for another big comeback, the return of the classic FZR 2000. However, the days when a car was able to run with more than 400km / h and turn like lightning have passed and such incredible stunts are no longer accepted by the society. Therefore, Ferrari should suffice. But wait; there is another important come-back from the previous titles that is worth mentioning here. We’re referring to the Autolog system, a feature that we hope to be better than the old Battlelog!

With the new technology, come new possibilities as well. And Need For Speed Rivals will try its best to prove that the next generation of video gaming is indeed, here. Thus,

RedviewCounty, the fictional location of the game will be quite extended and varied as the terrain will include deserts, mountains, forests, cities, even a coastal line. And it won’t be static, because the producers have promised us a dynamic weather system that is supposed to offer some new challenges for the cars and racers.

NFS Rivals is not a game that will amaze us with his unique story and scripts. Instead, the in game progression is a rather tree-like-system with three branches. In order to progress in rank, you will have to focus on the objectives afferent to each branch. For example, if you would like to drive super fast cars, you should select the branch able to unlock such cars and complete the missions available. Consequently, if you would like to drive balanced or enduring vehicles, you will have to select other branches of the progression tree.

The main objectives and missions are varied, different and progressively more difficult as the rank increases. For example, you could be required to finish a race last, to drift for a certain amount of time and distance or speed into the next police car that gets in your way. Or, if you’re a cop, you may be required to smash a non-police specific car.

Need for Speed Rivals was developed by Ghost Games. It is the studio’s first video game. What do you thing about it? Were the developers able to do a great job? Is NFS Rivals what you have expected or you wanted to get something more from the franchise?
