NHL 15 is hoping to go above and beyond after keeping NHL 14 away from the next-gen consoles. In my mind, that seems like a better idea to get a feel for what the new systems can handle, but now we have NHL 15 releasing their latest player ratings starting today and lasting the whole week. Today started with goalies, so we’ll jump right into their top 5.
5) Pekka Rinne – 91 Overall
Receiving his 90 overall glove high rating, Pekka Rinne of the Nashville Predators is considered one of the best glove hands in the NHL. It’s surprising to see him crack the top 5 after injuries took him out for most of last season.
4) Tuukka Rask – 92 Overall
With a high athletic ability and reflex ratings, Tuukka Rask of the Boston Bruins is now considered one of the NHL’s most elite goalies. He even won the Vezina trophy for the best goaltender in the league.
3) Carey Price- 92 Overall
Also hitting 90’s in the athletic ability and reflex categories, Carey Price is considered “the franchise goalie” of the Montreal Canadiens, showing off his talents every time he hits the ice. Shooters better beware slapping the puck on this guy!
2) Jonathan Quick – 93 Overall
A former Conn Smythe winner for most outstanding player during the playoffs and a two time Stanley Cup champion, Quick of the Los Angeles Kings is one of the most feared to play against in the NHL. With 91 Aggressiveness and 91 Speed and Agility, he’s a force to be reckoned with.
1) Henrik Lundqvist – 93 Overall
Known as “The King”, Lundqvist of the New York Rangers is the number 1 goalie this year, taking five stars in all 3 goalie attributes. With an astonishing 92 overall rating in Stick Low and Five Hole, he’s the toughest goalie to face in the NHL today. At least by EA Sports standards.
NHL 15 will be released on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3, and PS4 on September 9th for North American systems and September 12th in the PAL region. To check out the gallery, upcoming player ratings and other NHL 15 content, I’d look into EA’s website right here!
What do you think about the ratings EA chose? Do you think they should be different? I’d love to know your thoughts!
