We have yet to hear about Nintendo considering making a move on the mobile market. However, they’ve recently launched a site Mario.ca, which was specially designed for the smartphones. Not only that, but if you try to open the site from any other place, you will get a message, redirecting you to the desktop browser version – Nintendo.ca
The site includes everything you can learn about Nintendo and does not offer any additional features, which aren’t already on the desktop site. However, it is a major step forward and may come to prove that Nintendo are planning to do more on the mobile and may be working on some titles for the smartphone platforms.
There are always two sides of the coin and will we see an official version of Mario Bros. or something else by Nintendo for the mobile, we have yet to see. However, this good marketing trick shows that Nintendo haven’t forgotten the smartphones completely and are probably planning something big. What do you think? Will we see Nintendo apps hitting iTunes and the Android Market, or maybe even a whole Nintendo OS? It may sound a bit far-fetched; however the possibilities are limitless and only time will tell what exactly are Nintendo planning for the mobile.
