Mobile devices are now more popular than ever and it is important to invest in one that is of a high quality. In this article we will be comparing the specifications of two different smart phones that are currently popular, thanks to their wide range of features and ease of use. In this review we will be taking a look at the Nokia XL, and we will be comparing it with the HTC Desire. Both phones were released in the early months of 2014.
Features
Both of the phones are designed to use the Android operating system. However, the Nokia XL uses the Nokia X 1.0 version of the software and the HTC Desire uses the Sense 5 version of Android. Dimensions of the Nokia XL are 5.57 by 3.06 inches, whereas the HTC Desire is 5.21 by 2.68 inches, making it slightly smaller. The Nokia XL is also slightly heavier than the HTC Desire and weighs 6.70 ounces, as opposed to 4.94 ounces of the HTC Desire. Both smart phones have a similar screen resolution of 480 by 800 pixels for the Nokia and 480 by 854 pixels for the Desire. Both phones have an inbuilt camera, however the Nokia has a wide range of features, including white balance presets, panorama options and ISO control. The Nokia also has a 2 megapixel camera. The Desire does not have a lot of features on the camera and only has an 0.3 megapixel camera. The hardware of the Nokia smart phone is built with a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 MSM8225 system chip and the Desire is built with a Mediatek MT6582M. The process of the Nokia is that of a Dual core, 1000 MHz, ARM Cortex-A5. The Desire is built with a Quad core, 1300 MHz, ARM Cortex-A7. The system memory of the Nokia is 768 MB RAM and the Desire is 1024 MB RAM.
Benefits
Both phones come with storage expansion which are available in a microSD card, both of which are up to 32 GB. The talk time battery of the Nokia is 13 hours and slightly longer than the Desire, which is only 11 hours. Both smart phones come with music players which allow for artist information and cover art. Both phones also have support for popular media platforms such as Youtube and Google plus but only the Nokia offers built in online services support for social platforms such as Facebook.
Summary
Both phones offer the latest technology and also include extras such as polyphonic ringtones and voice dialing. However, the Nokia XL has a range of features that the Desire is lacking. The Desire is smaller than the Nokia XL, but does not have the same level of functionality. For this reason we would suggest that the Nokia is the better choice.
