Noticeably Absent Games From PS Now

by GH Staff
GTA Best-selling game of all time in the UK

Playstation Now will launch next week in North America on the Playstation 4 with over 100 PS3 games available to play right away. There are many great titles on offer including God Of War: Ascension, The Last Of Us, Saints Row IV, Bioshock Infinite, Batman: Arkham City, Shadow Of The Colossus and much, much more, but there are some major games and franchises noticeably absent from the line-up, here are some of those titles:

gta-5-66

GTA V

Rockstar’s blockbuster franchise is currently unavailable on PS Now. Not only is GTA V unavailable but GTA IV is also, which is surprising considering that the title came out all the way back in 2008. Even the story expansions, “The Ballad Of Gay Tony” and “The Lost And The Dammed”, will not be on the service for the time being. GTA is arguably the biggest franchise in gaming so it is unfortunate that Sony could not hash out a deal with Rockstar for the launch of what Sony considers the “future” of gaming. Any GTA title would be a service shifter for Sony so hopefully we will see either San Andreas or Liberty City on the service soon.

Call of Duty, other action games increase learning capacity

Any Call Of Duty

The only franchise which is possibly bigger than Grand Theft Auto is Activision’s Call Of Duty. Considering that there are 9 PS3 titles to choose from it is surprising to not see at least one or two of the older games on PS Now. Whether you like Call Of Duty or not there is no denying that it is an extremely popular franchise and if any of the titles manage to come to PS Now it will automatically be one of the top played titles.

Assassin's Creed 5

Any Assassin’s Creed

Ubisoft’s biggest franchise, Assassin’s Creed, is also not showing up for the launch of PS Now. Just like Call Of Duty, there are plenty of Assassin’s Creed titles to choose from for the service. Putting some of the older Assassin’s Creed titles such as AC2 or AC: Brotherhood on PS Now would be ideal for everyone. This is because the two mentioned games are considered to be the best games in the series and Sony probably would not have to pay too much for games which came years ago.

Sinister Six

Mortal Kombat (2011)

Considering that Sony has managed to get Batman: Arkham City on PS Now at launch it is surprising that Mortal Kombat is not on the service. Mortal Kombat is published by Warner Bros. Entertainment, the same company which publishes Arkham City in addition to Lego Batman 2 which is also one of the 100 launch games for PS Now. The only noticeable fighting game currently on PS Now is Dead Or Alive 5, since Mortal Kombat is the most recognisable fighting franchises ever it is a shame that it is not available at launch.

God Of War 3

PS Now has plenty of Kratos at launch, as well as God Of War: Ascension, God Of War HD will also be available to stream. God Of War 3 was one of the first games to truly show off the power of the PS3 with incredible scale and detail in the environments and character models. Since Sony owns God Of War 3 it is only a matter of time until the game is on PS Now.

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater

Any Metal Gear Solid

Metal Gear Solid has a rich history with the Playstation brand. Konami has brought MGS 2,3,4, Peace Walker and Ground Zeroes for the PS3 so there are plenty of titles to choose from. Since Metal Gear Solid has managed to come to PS Plus in the past it is likely that we will see either Solid Snake or Big Boss crawl onto PS Now at some point in the future.
