Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty Publisher Gives Update on Unreleased Versions of the Game

by GH Staff

In a recent blog update Oddworld Inhabitants, publishers of the Oddworld series, gave an update on all of the different versions of Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty that are being developed at this time.

While the PlayStation 4 version of the game has already seen a release, Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty is being currently developed for Wii U, PC, Mac, Linux, PS3, PS Vita, and Xbox One.

The PC, Mac, and Linux versions are said to be only months away from completion and will be released on Steam as soon as the title is completed. The publisher is also said to be considering a private beta for the game, but nothing concrete was announced.

The PS3 and PS Vita versions were said to be a challenge as the publishers have detailed:

“The relatively limited RAM available to us has meant we’re having to break down some of the huge scrolling areas seen in the PC and PS4 versions whilst ensuring we retain the same great gameplay.”

The publishers also gave an update on when gamers will see a release to these versions of the game:

We’re aware that the wait is disappointing to our fans waiting to play on PS3 and Vita. However, as a small studio it’s impossible for us to dedicate the sort of team sizes that larger titles can afford, and so we’re having to work away at the PS3 and PS Vita versions delicately and methodically. We’ll have more news on the progress here in the coming weeks and months.

Meanwhile, the Xbox One version of the title has just starting development, while the Wii U version is having storage issues and a few other technical problems.

Oddworld Inhabitants appear to be optimistic on the eventual releases to all the different versions of Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty, while still maintaining a large open window as to when these titles will come out.

Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty is currently available for PlayStation 4, while the game will eventually see a release for Wii U, PS3, PS Vita, Xbox One, PC, Mac, and Linux.
