One million DayZ copies sold

by GH Staff

One month after being released on Steam, the DayZ Standalone has sold one million copies. 200.000 of them were sold within the first 24 hours. Steam’s warning messageĀ “WARNING: THIS GAME IS EARLY ACCESS ALPHA. PLEASE DO NOT PURCHASE IT UNLESS YOU WANT TO ACTIVELY SUPPORT DEVELOPMENT OF THE GAME AND ARE PREPARED TO HANDLE WITH SERIOUS ISSUES AND POSSIBLE INTERRUPTIONS OF GAME FUNCTIONING.” didn’t seem to deter old fans (as well as new survivors) from shedding out $30, and most of them were more than happy with the purchase.

And there’s a market for survival games, that’s for sure. Rust, a DayZ spin-off is also doing surprisingly well. There’s no doubt that Dean “Rocket” Hall has left his mark on the gaming industry. And you’d think with all that money, Rocket is probably idling on some beach somewhere, sipping rum-based cocktails from a coconut, right? Well, wrong! According to one of his latest tweets, he’s rather busy:

Well, we congratulate the DayZ team on their success, and we’re hoping they will be investing resources and time into really polishing the game. The beta is still far away, but the potential of the game is extremely high. If you’re still on the fence and are trying to decide whether or not to buy the game, take a look at our DayZ alpha review.
