Now, if you’ve ever played Red Barrels’ survival horror game, Outlast, then its likely you haven’t slept in a long while, and that you will never go near an abandoned asylum ever, ever again. In fact, why you would do so in the first place is questionable. While its great that your nightmares of giant insane mutants and supernatural entities are at last fading away, its even greater news that the developers have announced that there will be a new DLC for the critically acclaimed horror, coming for the PS4 and PC. Outlast: Whistleblower is sure to send us running for the toilet once more.
As Red Barrels claims, the new DLC will place you in the skin of Waylon Park, a software engineer in the employment of Murkoff. Sounds familiar? Waylon Park is the man who sent the email that caused journalist Miles Upshur to investigate the asylum in the original game. Waylon, having to ignore his family due to the secrecy and classification of his job, is unhappy over the questionable ethics of his superiors, who have been experimenting on the patients in Mount Massive’s asylum. He hopes to take a stand against it – but will it go well?
The developers of Whistleblower hope that the awaited DLC will delve deeper into the mystery explored within Outlast, and uncover untold secrets Mount Massive sought to keep in the shadows. The exact release date for Outlast: Whistleblower has not been revealed yet, but the targeted release window is April 2014.
