Paradox talks tanks in the new Hearts of Iron IV “Tanks for the Inspiration!” developer video

Time for a little history lesson with Paradox in the new Hearts of Iron IV “Tanks for the Inspiration!” developer diary

In Hearts of Iron IV you’ll have to guide your country during the events of the Spanish Civil War and the world consuming conflict known as World War 2. To prepare you for combat Paradox Interactive has released the Hearts of Iron IV “Tanks for the Inspiration!” developer video, where the games project lead Dan Lind takes you on a journey through the “Arsenalen” museum of military vehicles in Sweden to show off some of the tanks that you’ll be building and talk tactics.

Hearts of Iron IV

So many countries to invade, so many countries to be squashed under tank tracks by.

At the start of Hearts of Iron IV the Spanish Civil War will have kicked off and with this war you’ll have to decide you can either join in the war yourself for combat experience or stay out of the war but still support one of the two sides to gain allies for the upcoming war. By gaining early combat experience you’ll be able to get a head start in upgrading your military but by staying out you’ll make more allies and piss off the other side a little less.

All of the tanks mentioned in the video can be built in Hearts of Iron IV but in order to make them you’ll need the production and resources. For production you’ll be able to convert civilian industries in production facilities to increase the speed of your production at the cost of making money, and just like in the real second world war America and Russia will have a bit of an advantage due to the size of their industry. Along with getting the production you’ll also need your countries specialised workers.

But production doesn’t mean anything if you don’t have the resources to support your army. Every country starts off with a certain amount of resource and some like Germany will be very limited. You can gain more resources by either invading resource rich countries or by trading with allies.

Alternatively you can also modify older model tanks you have to save on the resources, because your tanks will be made outdated as the game goes on. Beside making tanks you’ll also be able to build navy and air vehicles as well as take part in non-military actions like diplomacy, politics and espionage. Today Paradox Interactive released the Hearts of Iron IV “Tanks for the Inspiration” developer video which showed off some of the real world tanks you’ll be able to build in the game as well as giving a little history lesson.

Hearts of Iron IV is a real-time WW2 simulation game being developed by Paradox Interactive and is due out for the PC, Mac and Linux PC’s sometime next year. If your interested in the game then you can enlist now for the “Rush to the Front” campaign and to take part in the upcoming Beta here.
