Paranautical Activity Developer Apologises for Death Threat

by GH Staff

Mike Maulbeck, co-owner (now former) of Code Avarice made some angry statements on Twitter this week after their game Paranautical Activity was officially released on Steam as a full release but was mistagged as being Early Access.

2701167-tweetThe statements, which included a death threat towards Valve boss Gabe Newell prompted the game’s removal from their digital distribution service.

Written on a post on the studio’s website, co-owner of the company Travis Pfenning wrote:

“I want to issue a formal apology from Code Avarice to all of you, and the teams at Valve. Especially to Gabe Newell.”

He goes on to say:

“I have been recently affected by my now (ex) partners lack of civil control and inability to understand that words have consequences. I do not condone what he said. I do not believe he was in anyway justified or entitled to represent our company in this way.”

The developer hopes to get the game added back onto Steam and has started a petition to get supporters involved in bringing the partnership back to life.
