Day One of PAX Australia completely rolled into a busy day two where today I looked at Microsoft and Nintendo a little more closely, getting hands-on with some big upcoming games and some games that are most likely under your radar but shouldn’t be.
Nintendo’s booth made my inner child happy seeing Smash Bros played on the big screen while people gathered and played other big titles like Hyrule Warriors, Splatoon, Pokemon XY and Mario Kart 8. Something else that created big lines was the New 3DS, I’m yet to actually get my hands on one (that’s a job for tomorrow I promise) ,but from what I’ve seen and heard it’s a big improvement from the current 3DS versions. Of course they will be available in Australia and New Zealand before Europe and North America, so that’s exciting for Australians.
Nintendo’s amiibos were on display and they are smaller than I originally thought which is especially convenient for the people who plan on collecting each of them.
Over at Microsoft the games on display consist of is a solid list, here’s a look-
Minecraft
Geometry Warz 3
Time
Atez
Hype Light Dark
Dark Dreams Don’t Die
Scream Ride
Ori And The Blind Forrest
Screen Cheat
Killer Instinct
Volgarr the Viking
Unmechanical Extended
The only
Sunset Overdrive
Never Alone
Siegecraft
Threes
No Time To Explain
Halo: Master Chief Collection
Forza 5
Forza Horizon 2
Slash Dash
Spectra
Lifeless Planet
Gunscape
If you are looking to attend the Microsoft booth you won’t be disappointed, you can even get a picture with Master chief and Cortana (who wouldn’t do that) then take your pick at any of the games above to play. The Master Chief Collection is an easy pick but if you’re not too keen on waiting in line you won’t be disappointed by trying out games like Slash Dash, a four player 2D top-down game with the same premise of a capture the flag match.
The League of Legends Oceanic Regional finals are hosted tomorrow so look out for that in tomorrows day three highlights, also do yourself a favor and look out for the above games while you grind all the Halo games over the Christmas break.
