Playstation 4 streaming – a huge success

by GH Staff

It seems the new console from Playstation 4 is quickly gaining popularity among streamers too. According to recent information, Playstation 4 streams have amassed to 10% of total Twitch streams since the release of the console on the 15th of November.

And the numbers are impressive indeed. Over 800.000 individual broadcasts were created globally, 7.1 million spectate sessions were held, and the total amount of content streamed adds up to an impressive 20 million minutes of footage. That’s roughly 38 years of Playstation 4 content.

The share button on the new Playstation 4 controller seems to be highly popular as well, as the Share Menu has already been loaded 10.9 million times. Microsoft should be taking notes, as their Xbox One currently only has a Twitch viewing option, and cannot be used to stream.

Sony really has reasons to be proud of, as the numbers are staggering. Considering how recent the release of Playstation 4 is, 10% of total Twitch streams is nothing but astonishing. Shushei Yoshida, the executive of Sony, has declared that the popularity of the streaming feature had “surpassed our wildest expectations”. “We’re very excited to see gamers embrace live streaming from their PS4 system and we look forward to seeing how PlayStation gamers advance social gaming in the coming years.” he also stated.
