Pokemon Omega Alpha reach 7.7 million worldwide

by GH Staff

Pokemon Omega Ruby and Pokemon Alpha Sapphire has reached a total of 7.7 million units shipped worldwide. The game sold around 3 million units after its first three days though this did not count Europe sales as the game launched last week in Europe.

The game is now the fifth best selling 3DS game behind of “New Super Mario Bros. 2” with 7.82 million units. When compared to last year’s entry in the Pokemon series, “X & Y” which currently has 13.29 million units, expect Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire to surpass in the new year. The increase in sales is due to the popularity around the Pokemon series as well as the increase sales for the Nintendo handheld. You can check out our review here.

Nintendo is having a great year as earlier this year, they released “Mario Kart 8” which went on to ship 3.5 million units. Bayonetta 2 released in October and was a critical hit being nominated for Game of the Year at the upcoming “Game Awards”. As well, Nintendo’s Smash Brother series has shipped a total of 3.22 million units for the 3DS version and the Wii U version went on to become the fastest selling Wii U game. This month, Nintendo has also released “Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker”.
