It has been confirmed via the Pokemon YouTube channel that Rayquaza will in fact be in the new Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire remakes.
This isn’t the most unexpected of news. Players have pretty much assumed since their announcement that Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire will have Rayquaza available for capture.
Since this seems like obvious news, one has to wonder why these Generation III Pokemon are even being announced. Up until recently the only ones listed in the Pokemon tab on the official website were Seviper, Zangoose and Milotic. It was speculated that this was a hint toward the possibility of their mega evolutions. Could we see future news of a Primal Rayquaza? I sure hope so.
More news from the video includes Groudon and Kyogre’s new abilities. Groudon will get Desolate Land which changes the weather to Extremely Harsh Sunlight and blocks water type moves while Kyogre will have Primordial Sea which changes the weather to Heavy Rain and blocks fire type moves. What’s interesting about these abilities is that other weather changes moves/abilities can’t override them.
Both legendaries also had signature moves on display in the video. Groudon will know Precipice Blade and Kyogre will get Origin Pulse. Both moves look absolutely devastating.
The video also confirmed the recent CoroCoro mega evolution leaks of Camerupt, Sharpedo and Gallade which is nice but, not all that thrilling.
Besides the news from the video, some other new additions to the Pokemon Omega Ruby and Akpha Sapphire site. Added to the Pokemon tab were Zigzagoon, Poochyena, Taillow, Wingull and Wurmple. These Pokemon go against the idea that the previously featured pocket monsters on that tab would receive mega evolutions since they are first stage ‘mons but who’s to say their finals won’t? It is likely however that these are simply space fillers.
