Pre-Order Downloads coming to Nintendo 3DS and Wii U

by GH Staff

Nintendo is leaping aboard the digital pre-order train with Xbox and Playstation this December. Earlier it was announced by Satoru Iwata in Nintendo corporate management briefing that soon customers will be able to pre-order games on the Nintendo E Shop so that they can play the game immediately at launch.
Some of you may have run into the issue now where you stay up until midnight or whatever time, buy your brand new and beloved Nintendo title only to find that the server is overloaded or that for some reason it isn’t available yet despite the fact that it should be. I had to deal with this issue when Pokemon X and Y came out and I was abroad trying to download my US version to my 3DS XL.

This inheritance is but a thing of the past now or, it will be a thing of the past eventually. The first Wii U title that can be digitally pre-ordered is the upcoming smash hit (wait for it) Super Smash Bros for Wii U! Oh, the comedy, it’s killing me!
There has not been any details given about 3DS releases that will benefit from this feature but it can be expected to come into play sometime in early 2015. Sorry Pokemon fans, looks like you’ll be waiting in line for your copy of Omega Ruby or Alpha Sapphire.
Will you take advantage of this feature that Nintendo has been lagging in? What games could you see yourself digitally pre-ordering? Let me know in the comments below, stay tuned to Gamer Headlines for all your gaming news and feel free to follow me, @derekbyron on Twitter.
