PS4 App Finally Reaches Europe

by GH Staff

Is Sony good at keeping promises? Promises maybe, but sticking to dates – that might be a different matter. As Europeans are nearing the release of the long-awaited, a bit delayed PlayStation 4, Sony is giving them hope and excitement, by releasing their new entertainment app.

On November the 29th, people across the continent will be able to fully enjoy the taste of the new console, only two weeks after it hit North America. It may sound as a long time; however, it could have been worse, as people in Japan would say. They will have to wait more than three months for the PS4 to be released there, for reasons yet unknown.

If you are from Europe, and aren’t familiar with the concept of the PS4 app, here are some summed up details you will need to know about it. It comes for the iOS and Android and it serves you as a companion, which lets you access the PS Network any time you like. You will be able to do almost anything, socially, that you are able to do on the console – share trophies, chat with your friends, and even buy stuff from the PS store and a few more things.

It may not sound as something revolutionary; however, it is quite useful. You will be able to sync your phone with your PS4 in interesting ways. The PS4 app will give you the ability to use your phone as an on-screen keyboard and additional second screen functionality, we have yet to see and experience. However, it has to be said that this function will not come even close to the Remote Play function, which PS Vita owners can experience. It is a nice addition, though.

On the Official PlayStation Blog you are able to see a full list of all the applications Sony are planning to release in the near future, including the countries, which they will hit and corresponding dates. It is also said that in the upcoming months, more apps will be announced. Some of the apps will only be available in certain countries, for example the UK will be able to enjoy BBC News, Sports and iPlayer, which are similar to other TV-Based applications, which people from other countries, such as Germany and Spain will get. Other general apps, which you are probably already familiar with, will also be available, including Netflixx, IGN, VidZone and more.

With only a few days left for Europe to experience the PS4 craze, things are looking up and going. If you are living in Europe and are psyched about the new console, be sure to download the app today. It is still yet to be learned in what other various ways customers will be able to use this mobile app; however, even now it is a great addition to the PSN world. Chat, share, buy and more – this PS4 app once again proves that smartphones will be becoming more and more useful in our everyday live, not only through the connection to the world, but through the connection with the technology we are surrounded by as well.
