Developer Quantic Dream has paid tribute to the victims of the recent Charlie Hebdo attack in France.

Charlie Hebdo, a French-based satirical newspaper, had previously published cartoon images depicting the Muslim Prophet Muhammad four years ago — and posted subsequent caricatures in 2012. Islamist militants responded by issuing multiple threats and also launching an attack on the newspaper’s office in 2011.

Two armed men — believed to be brothers Cherif, 32, and Said Kouachi, 34 — killed 12 people, including the editor-in-chief and two police officers, during an all-out assault on Hebdo’s headquarters this week.

Quantic Dream, also a French-based company, wrote a heartfelt statement on Facebook regarding the shocking incident.

“Charlie Hebdo were our neighbours,” Quantic Dream wrote. “They left our building after the first terrorist attack. May [Stephane Charbonnier], [Jean Cabut], [Georges] Wolinski and all the other poor victims rest in peace.”

Last month, Quantic Dream announced that “great news” would be revealed in January 2015, with rumours suggesting that the studio is developing a definitive edition/remaster of the PlayStation 3-exclusive IP Beyond: Two Souls.

Additionally, David Cage, founder and co-CEO of Quantic Dream, has also said that the developer is “working on something very exciting.”
