Along with the release of the games first DLC pack in November 13th, Nintendo will also be releasing a downloadable Mario Kart 8  update that will bring amiibo support. The Mario Kart 8 amiibo update will allow players to unlock new costumes based on classic Nintendo characters for your Mii.

In order to unlock the costumes all you’ll have to do is tap their statue on the Wii U’s gamepad to unlock that characters costume. At the moment the only statues you can use to unlock costumes are Mario, Luigi, Peach, Yoshi, Kirby, Link, Captain Falcon, Donkey Kong, Samus and Fox McCloud but more characters will likely be added as the game goes on, especially since the Villager is going to be added to the game in a later DLC.

The Mario Kart 8 amiibo update will be released on the same day as the first Mario Kart 8 DLC pack,which will bring 8 tracks, 4 vehicles and Link, Tanooki Mario and Cat suit Peach into the game.These amiibo figures will be released on November 21st along with the release of Super Smash Bros Wii U and their currently available for pre-order at select retailers including GameStop, Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart and Toys R Us.

On November 13th Nintendo will be releasing the Mario Kart 8 amiibo update along with the release of the games first DLC pack. This update will allow players to unlock Nintendo themed costumes for their Mii’s and will stabilize the game for all the content that’s coming with the first DLC pack.
