A new rumor floating around suggests that Rainbow Six Patriots might have been completely redesigned up to 3 times. A known source of rumors on Twitter posted a tweet suggesting this very thing. Superannuation has been known in the past to spread rumors that turn out to be true, but regardless take this bit of news with consideration.
Rumor is that Rainbow 6 Patriots has been redesigned from the ground up three times. Yikes.

vg247 spoke to a Ubisoft representative and asked them to comment on the rumor and confirm if the game is still in development, but the rep has declined to comment. Ubisoft previously claimed that Rainbow Six Patriots “wasn’t working” and had to be remade, already hinting that the game was far from ready and needed some reworking. Ubisoft had actually released news of the game prematurely, by revealing a new trailer back on November 4 2011, but since then very little news has been disclosed. During E3 2013, Ubisoft announced that Patriots would be in development for the PS4 and Xbox One, since the next gen consoles had launched during the time of development.
This isn’t the first time Ubisoft has delayed the development of a game, since similar cases have occurred with Ghost Recon Future Soldier and more recently Watch Dogs. Ubisoft is always aiming to make their games stellar upon release and delays usually allow the development team enough time to fine tune the game. Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six is one of their flagship series and it has been for years, so it’s understandable that they would want to get the newest title just right. This is just a rumor in the end so we’ll have to wait for official word from Ubisoft regarding the status of the game.
