Razer Giveaway Includes Custom 14″ Blade Signed By Gearbox Staff

Custom Razer Blade sweepstakes

To the dismay of some fans, Gearbox denounced the idea that they were currently working on a Borderlands 3. However, between an obvious leak and an official PAX East announcement, veterans of Pandora have another game to look forward to, with Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. Developed by 2K Australia, the next (er, previous?) chapter of the Borderlands saga takes fans to the Moon, as they’ll be taking part in Handsome Jack’s uprising.

To generate even more hype, OEM and gaming peripheral manufacturer Razer has announced a new giveaway for one of their newest products. In collaboration with Gearbox Software, 2K Games and Think Geek, Razer will be giving away a custom Borderlands-themed Razer Blade gaming notebook, and an arsenal of PC peripherals. To enter in the “PAX East 2014 Beast Bundle Sweepstakes”, interested fans can “Like” the Borderlands, Gearbox and Razer Facebook pages, and follow @Razer on Twitter; everything is tracked through the Splurgy gateway on Razer’s contest page. Technically, entrants only need to register for the contest with either their email address or Facebook account, but the previously listed options each add one additional entry for the contest.

One grand prize will be given (pictured above) which includes the following items:

  • Custom 2014 Razer Blade 14″, etched with Claptrap and signed by the Borderlands development team
  • Razer suite (appears to be the Kraken Pro headset, DeathAdder mouse, and Goliathus mouse mat)
  • Borderlands 1 and 2 (GOTY Editions)
  • Collector’s Edition Loot Crate
  • $100 Think Geek Gift Certificate

Five runner-ups will also receive a Kraken Pro, DeathAdder mouse, a digital copy of Borderlands 2 and a $25 gift certificate for Think Geek.

Razer introduced a smaller 14″ laptop for the Blade family last year, as an alternative to the renamed original model, the Blade Pro. While it was praised for having such high-performance capabilities in such a small form-factor, the 2013 Blade received heavy criticism for having a 1600×900 TN screen. Razer took the complaints to heart during the creation of their new model, as the 2014 Razer Blade 14″ includes a new 3200×1800 QHD+ touchscreen.

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel will dive into the events between Borderlands 1 and 2, and will help to explain Jack’s transformation into the laughably twisted, villainous head of the Hyperion Corporation. Players will take hold of 4 “new” characters for the upcoming Moonbase adventure. The four classes all have connections to Handsome Jack, as Borderlands fans will be controlling Fragtrap (Claptrap), Nisha The Lawbringer (the Sherrif of Lynchwood), Athena the Gladiator (from the General Knoxx BL1 DLC) or Wilhelm the Enforcer (Borderlands 2 boss). While some fans are dissatisfied by the lack of a next-gen version, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel will be available later this year for PC, 360 and PS3.

The PAX East 2014 Beast Bundle Sweepstakes ends on May 1.
