Could Guild Wars 2 Heart of Thorns possibly be the MMO’s first expansion?
Reddit users have spot the filing of Guild Wars 2 Heart of Thorns in the United States Patent and Trademark Office and it even comes with a cool-looking logo. The filing was registered by NCSofts so fans are currently speculating that Heart of Thorns will be the games first expansion since its release back in 2012.
Up till now Guild Wars 2 storyline was being told through a series of in-game updates called “Living World” which added new content every time for the pay to buy MMO title. From today players will be able to take part in the final Living World update of the second season which has been titled “Point of No Return”.
ArenaNet are planning to attend PAX South later this year and both the games director Colin Johnson and the studio president Mike O’ Brien will be attending a panel titled “Past the Point of No Return”. Seeing that the panel is called “Past the Point of No Return” and that the final “Living World” event starts today, its safe to assume that they’ll be talking about what’s next for Guild Wars 2, and possibly the games first expansion. Of course there’s always the chance that Guild Wars 2 Heart of Thorns is just going to be the name of the third season of “Living World” events.
