Resident Evil: Revelations 2 Gameplay Demo

To the surprise of many, Capcom’s new Resident Evil title isn’t Resident Evil 7, but Resident Evil: Revelations 2. While the main numbered series has since gone for a more casual action-oriented approach, Revelations 2 Producer Michiteru Okabe claims that the Revelations series will cater to the long-time fans, staying true to the original “survival horror experience”.

Resident Evil fans got a very brief sneak preview at Sony’s pre-TGS conference, as a CG teaser trailer was shown during the presentation. While very little information was given at the time, a proper gameplay trailer was revealed during the actual Tokyo Game Show 2014 event. While not a direct sequel, Revelations 2 is set within the same universe, and will feature the same cramped, tight-corridor gameplay as the original title. Ammo is scarce, and the player will have to work with a partner- in this case, Moira Burton. Unlike the previous Revelations, the sequel  features co-op; fans will have to switch back and forth between Claire and Moira to solve puzzles and create tactical ambushes against zombies, or they can bring in a 2nd player to take full-control of Moira.

An 18 minute gameplay demo was shown during TGS 2014, and up until recently, was only available to those who watched the stream live. Fortunately, YouTuber “R3DPlaystationFilmer” was able to capture the footage and uploaded it for public viewing [for now]:

Resident Evil: Revelations 2 will be released as an episodic series for PC, Xbox 360. Xbox One, PS3 and PS4. To the surprise of some Nintendo fans, Revelations 2 has not been confirmed to release on the platform where it all began, the Nintendo 3DS.  While a concrete date has not been revealed, Capcom is planning for a 2015 release.
