Review HTC Desire 300 vs Motorola Moto E Speications Comparison

by GH Staff

We have the two of the most affordable and amazing smartphones from two of the oldest and successful phone manufacturing companies – HTC and Motorola.

HTC Desire 300

HTC has already established itself in the high end smartphone market and is now targeting the mid segment market with its HTC desire 300 which is packed with all the features necessary for day-to-day usage.

Design and Display

Desire 300 has a very tidy design with volume rocker key on the right edge and power button on the top. The back panel is made of soft rubber which gives added confidence and grip when held with one hand. The front houses a 4.3 inch TFT screen with 480*800 pixel resolution and 217 ppi density. The phone weighs just 120g making it ideal for single handed operation.

Specifications, Camera and Battery

Desire 300 is powered by a 1 GHz dual core processor with 512 MB RAM and 4GB internal storage. It comes preloaded with 4.1.2 android with HTC sense UI 5.0 over it. In our test, we felt some lag in switching the applications primarily due to the low 512 MB RAM. It is fitted with 5MP rear camera and .3MP front camera for video calling. The picture quality is pretty decent keeping in mind the price of the phone. Desire 300 holds a 1650 mAh battery which gives a talk time of 11 hours.

Motorola Moto E

Launcher in May 2014, it has been one of the highest selling phones with such amazing features available at an affordable price.

Design and Display

The design of the phones makes it suitable for singe handed operation. The edges are round and the back is made of plastic with matt rubber coating to make it sweat and scratch proof. The front houses a 4.3 inch TFT display with vivid colors giving a pleasant experience to the eyes when checking email or watching videos. The Gorilla Glass layer protects the screen from scratches.

Specifications, Camera and Battery

Motorola, which was previously owned by Google has the latest android operating system running in all its phones and is compatible with the upcoming updates. Moto E is currently running the latest 4.4 Kitkat android operating system. It is packed with a 1.2 GHz dual core processor with 1GB RAM and 4GB internal storage. Moto E comes with non-removable 1980 mAh battery which gives a good battery life of over 1 day on mixed usage. It is fitted with 5MP rear camera but no front camera which means no video calling support.

Overall

We found Moto E with better performance and battery life when compared with HTC Desire 300 in terms of switching applications and playing video files.
