Rockstar Games talks sequels, possiblity of announcements come 2015

According to recent statements made by prominent game developer, Rockstar Games, during a question-and-answer session with avid fans, sequels for popular, beloved games such as Red Dead Redemption, L.A. Noire, and Bully could possibly be teased or even announced come 2015.

Furthermore, the company stated that their current lack of information regarding sequels to their most popular games stems not from lack of interest or desire, but of timing and bandwidth.

Rockstar Games Sequels in 2015?

Rockstar Games Red Dead Redemption sequel in development, co-op focus

In response to a fan question regarding the continuation of various Rockstar franchises such as the aforementioned Red Dead Redemption, Rockstar Games said:

“It’s wonderful to see so much excitement and enthusiasm for the Red Dead series, and nearly 5 years after Red Dead Redemption’s release(!).

As we’ve mentioned when asked in the past about new games in other series such as Red Dead Redemption, Bully and L.A. Noire, we don’t always rush to make sequels, but that does not mean we won’t get to them eventually. We have so many games we want to make and the issue is always one of bandwidth and timing.

We thank longtime fans such as yourselves as always for your amazing support and please stay tuned in 2015 for announcements of what’s to come from Rockstar Games.”

Given the immense commercial success of 2010’s open-world western, Red Dead Redemption, a sequel for the title would seem to be Rockstar Games’ golden goose in 2015. However, there a number of other routes that company could take in terms of a follow-up to one of their games, namely L.A. Noire or Bully.

While Rockstar is normally quite secretive about disclosing information regarding new games, it seems the recent release of GTA 5 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One may have lifted some workload burdens – giving the company time to think about its other game series.

Keep in mind that while the company has said that it does indeed want to work on new games/sequels, the matter lays heavily on its lack of time and bandwidth.
