It time for Lucina to come out of Marth’s shadow
Two days ago Nintendo announced that not one but two new characters joined Super Smash Bros and today on the Miiverse Sakurai talks about Lucina and Robin’s Levin Sword.
Since her reveal fans have viewed Lucina as a Marth clone although this is in part due to all her moves in the trailer styled after him. However on Miiverse Sakurai posted that:
“where Marth’s power is concentrated in the tip of the sword, Lucina’s attack strength is balanced throughout the weapon, which might make her easier to control.”
This means that Lucina is a great beginners character. With the movepool of Marth, Lucina is equiped to deal with most situations and because Marths damage is contentrated in such a specific area, he’ll most likely do more damage than Lucina.
In the same day Sakurai also that you’ll be able to select her separately because:
“whenever there is even a small difference in abilities, that character gets an actual roster slot.”
This also explains why the Male Wii Fit Trainer has his own roster slot as well.
However along with explaining what makes Lucina unique we also got some more information on Robin or to be more precise there Levin Sword.
Robins Levin sword will only be used when your doing smash attacks and even works in the air however just like Robin’s spell tomes:
“the Levin sword can be used only a limited number of times before it breaks, at which point it takes some time to regenerate.”
Thankfully however Robin isn’t completely defenceless during this time as they’ll pull out a bronze sword which if you’ve played Fire Emblem: Awakening you’ll know that its the weakest sword in the game. This makes Robin a more technical character than Lucina and experimenting with them sounds like it will be a lot of fun.
The 3DS version of Super Smash Bros is due out in September so there’s still time for some more characters to make an appearance.
