Konami has announced the re-release of the PSP versions of Silent Hill: Shattered Memories and Silent Hill Origins through the PlayStation Network. Both games will be available to play on PSP and PlayStation Vita at a price of £7.99 each – the US pricing is yet to be revealed.
Silent Hill: Shattered Memories follows the story of Harry Mason, who’s daughter went missing following a car crash – the game acts as a reimagined version of the original Silent Hill, but whilst there are similarities, the overall plot ends up being very different. Mason’s mental health and conciousness is often played with in dark ways as he makes his way through the real world whilst often finding himself in nightmares full of deadly monsters – the kind of twisted enemies you’d expect in a Silent Hill title.
Silent Hill Origins is a prequel to the first Silent Hill, and follows Travis Grady – a truck driver who decides to drive through the town of Silent Hill in an attempt to make his trip shorter. However, Grady is forced to come to a stop as he spots a mysterious girl in the middle of the road. It’s from there much more sinister things start take place, from rescuing a girl from a house fire to encountering monsters from the Other World.
No firm release date has been set, although Konami has promised it will announce the official release date and urge those interested to frequently check out their Twitter and Facebook pages in the meantime.
