With the new release of Sniper Elite 3, there seems to be little to no issues with the game. It is receiving many shinning reviews and positive comments. I mean, who doesn’t love the feeling of watching their bullet fly through a skull and turn a person’s brain to jelly? Joking aside, the game looks to be quite stellar. Great graphics, great game-play, and the like.
Though it seems there may be a little trouble in paradise. It has been reported in the Steam forums that some of the users have had their pre-ordered Sniper Elite 3 game keys revoked. Some have bought the keys from a third party site, went to sleep soundly with a confirmation and key, and may have even redeemed the game. Though when waking up and going to play, they found that their key was blocked. You can understand the frustration. Nothing would make having to get up and out of bed worse than finding your newly purchased Sniper Elite 3 is unplayable, and that your money has been taken. Not even a cup of coffee could fix that
As Rebellion stated in the community post, it seems that someone stole these Sniper Elite 3 keys from one of their PC retail distributors, then resold to other third party companies. This resulted in neither Valve nor the PC retail distributors in receiving their money for these sales. In light of this news, Steam immediately revoked the keys.
A situation like this can be crucial to a developer, as their fans wait and watch to see what is done. A lot of upset, frustrated comments have appeared on the community post, and with good reason. A trip to the comment section of the post reveals that some users distrust Rebellion, and feel as though this issue with the keys is false, and that they are only trying to get fans to pay for another copy of the game. They are wondering why they were even able to redeem the keys if they were truly stolen. Others believe it is a legitimate mishap. They are commending Rebellion’s updates on the issue and their ways of giving a little something back to those affected.
Free Sniper Elite 3 DLC
Whether you believe it or not, Rebellion has offered the “Target Hitler DLC” for free to anyone who has had their steam key blocked, even if they have already received a refund from their third party vendor, as long as they email “sniperelite3keys@rebellion.co.uk” with the receipt or proof of purchase from the vendor and the Steam key by Friday, July 4th. They also recommend if your key has been blocked, that you immediately contact the vendor you purchased your key from, and ask for a refund. It seems Rebellion is genuine with this issue, doing what they can, within reason, to help those who have had their keys blocked.
If you had your key blocked and would like to redeem the “Target Hitler DLC” for free, Rebellion has left specific instructions on the community post. Should you have any further problems with the key, it would be best to first go to your vendor. It also wouldn’t hurt to contact Rebellion directly.
As always, shop were you like, but be cautious when ordering game keys from a third party site. It’ll lead to less frustration and more time for the glorious making of brain-jelly. In-game, of course.
