Snom Technology GmbH was founded in 1996 in Berlin, Germany by Christian Stredicke and Nicolas-Peter Pohland, both experienced in computer science. From the bare beginnings, the company focused on VoIP technology in both hardware and software to support it and over the years they grew into a significant OEM manufacturer. By 2001, the company opened a branch office in Bangalore, with the intention of developing their presence in that market. During the years to come, Snom expanded all over the world, including an office in Massachusetts in 2006 up to United Kingdom office in 2010. In 2016, the company was taken over by Vtech Holdings Limited.
Base station is a critical part of any wireless DECT system as it acts as a signal router, converting incoming and outgoing signals into digital bits to be sent over the telephone line. Consumer grade base stations allow for up to six wireless headsets to be used and connected to it, with the frequency band being set from 2 GHz upwards. Depending on the power rating of the base station, ranges at which the wireless headsets may work differ, but in general you are looking at about 50 yards of indoor space or about 200 yards of open up space (with no significant structures such as concrete walls or similar).
