With the majority of major exclusive titles coming out in 2015, what’s left for the PlayStation 4 in 2014? There’s not much, but that doesn’t concern SCE president Jim Ryan, who came out to defend the holiday lineup.
Ryan told us twice in an interview with GameKult (translated via Gaming Bolt) that he wasn’t worried while listing off The Last of Us, Destiny, LittleBigPlanet 3, and more.
“[It doesn’t bother us] at all. We have The Last of Us: Remastered this summer, and Destiny in early September and then everything will accelerate with FIFA, Call of Duty, Battlefield, Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, DriveClub … and the list goes on, there is no reason to worry,” he said in an interview with GameKult.
“I forgot to mention LittleBigPlanet 3, inFamous First Light, SingStar … Moreover, much of the games from third-party publishers come with exclusive content and access, so I am not worried.”
If we were to strictly pair up console exclusives, the PS4 really only has Driveclub and The Last of Us: Remastered, and TLOU barely counts because plenty of us have played it before on the PlayStation 3 last year. But there’s nothing wrong with putting in titles like Destiny and LBP3 — just because they’re also being released on PS3 doesn’t mean it’ll hamper the experience on PS4.
There shouldn’t be any worry, especially if you don’t simply focus on what’s coming out during the holiday. There are a ton of PlayStation exclusives on both consoles that are being supported and the Vita that should tie everyone. If not, there’s plenty of new content like Ryan listed (maybe not SingStar so much…) that should satisfy gamers.
