The video game industry has been no stranger when it comes to the reoccurring theme of controversy for almost two decades, whether it be Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s “Everyone is doing it” video to Xbox’s “From the Cradle to the Grave” commercial, but it seems that trend isn’t going to stop anytime soon.
Sony has recently pulled a brand-new advert they uploaded onto the European PlayStation YouTube channel, with the video meaning to promote the company’s PlayStation Vita but, at the same time, has come under heavy criticism for its overtly sexual innuendos.
The advert begins with a female ‘doctor’ asking the audience multiple questions on whether they’ve been “doing it” today — a sexual joke referring to masturbation, of course — and this eventually leads to her revealing that she’s actually talking about the PS Vita’s Remote Play feature with the PlayStation 4.
“I know you’ve already done it today, and I bet you’ve really enjoyed yourself,” she said. “How many times did you do it yesterday? Are you afraid you’re doing it too often? In your bedroom under the blankets? Or perhaps you prefer the kitchen or on the toilet? Or do you like it out in the garden?”
