As a result of the company looking to slim down their international work sphere, thousands of employees working in one of the 20 Sony Electronics stores in America will be relieved of their duties. The official statement of Sony on the issue urges that removing about 1,000 of its workers is necessary in order to “further streamline costs and continue focus on existing partner relations.”
President and COO of Sony Electronics Mike Fasulo also addressed the issue, saying that the shut down of stores in San Marcos, Texas, Dolphin Fl., University Village Wa. and other statewide locations was a troubling move to make, and the termination of workers was just as difficult. However, they were essential for forwarding success.
“I am entirely confident in our ability to turn the business around, in achieving our preferred future, and continue building on our flawless commitment to customer loyalty through the complete entertainment experience only Sony can offer,” Fasulo said.
There are still some of Sony’s establishments still operating with their day-to-day store obligations. 11 of them, to be exact. They’re also definitely keeping the lights on in the New York City store as well. With these stores and employees out of the picture, Sony will now turn their attention to premium elements in all hardware and gaming outlets.
