There is something about large-screened phones that woos smartphone users. Today we’re looking at two premier models from two of the most reliable companies that we have today.
Sony Xperia T2 Ultra
Powered by Mobile Bravia Engine 2, Sony Xperia T2 Ultra has one of the best displays the market has to offer.
Design and Display
The front panel is fitted with a 6.0 inch IPS LCD display which is 720*1280 pixel resolution and 245 ppi density. The display used the latest Mobile Bravia Engine 2 to give amazing color reproduction and contrast but at the same is not very legible in direct sun light. It is available in three color variants: black, white and purple. The power button, volume rocker and camera buttons are on the lower right edge of the phablet.
Specifications, Camera and Battery
It is packed with an amazing 1.4 GHz snapdragon processor with 1GB RAM and 8GB internal storage. It runs a custom version of android 4.3 jelly bean with six home screens to customize. The performance of the phablet was pretty good keeping in mind it has only 1 GB RAM. The phablet is fitted with 13MP rear camera with very limited features in the camera app. The front camera is 1.1MP to support video calling. In our best test, the giant 3000 mAh battery lasted for about one whole day on mixed usage.
Samsung Galaxy Note II N7100
After the success of Note I, Samsung came with yet another powerful phablet with amazing features.
Design and Display
It is fitted with an amazing 5.5 inch Super AMOLED screen with 720*1280 pixel resolution and 267 ppi density. The screen is simply amazing in terms of color reproduction, sharpness and contrast. The power button is on the right edge and volume rocker on the right, with audio jack on the top and usb charging port at the bottom.
Specifications, Camera and Battery
It is packed with an amazing 1.6 GHz quad core processor with 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage. It comes out of the box with preloaded android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean and is upgradable to 4.4.2 KitKat. The OS is customized with Samsung Touch Wiz UI which might feel boring if you are an existing Samsung owner.
The rear 8MP camera clicks amazing pictures with amazing detail and sharpness. The pictures are not only good in day light but the added flash capability certainly helps in low light conditions. The 3100 mAh battery provides an amazing whole day’s backup with mixed usage of videos, games and messaging.
Overall
Undoubtedly we found Samsung Galaxy Note II N7100 better than Sony Xperia T2 Ultra in all aspects of the phablet.
