The Internet got itself into a bit of a flurry when Bungie, the creators of Halo and the upcoming Destiny, tweeted this:
Not available in Beta: http://t.co/XLOBbp6MMc
— Bungie (@Bungie) July 22, 2014
The image they linked shows Serenity, the Firefly-class vessel at the heart of the short-lived but much-loved sci-fi show, Firefly inside of Destiny, Bungie’s part FPS, part RPG, part MMO hybrid Destiny that just closed its beta. A beta which was popular enough to bring the PlayStation Store down and leave players waiting hours just to get in.
Naturally, the Internet got pretty riled up over the thought of acquiring everybody’s favorite malfunctioning spaceship (apart from the Millennium Falcon, that is) and pretending to pal around with Mal and the gang but, alas, it’s not to be.
Shortly after that first tweet went up Bungie tweeted this out:
And, no, we're not equipping you with Serenity in Destiny. That's world collision, even if it's a sweet rhyme.

So if any of you had dreams of donning your browncoats and giving the man what for, you’ll have to settle doing it in your imagination, like Firefly fans have had to for years…
