If you’re a big fan of Telltale’s Walking Dead and the Wolf Among Us series then you’re sure to love the new project Square Enix is working on. Collaborating with Remember Me developer Dontnod Entertainment, they announced today that they have begun working on a brand new game curiously title Life Is Strange. Much like the games by Telltale, Life Is Strange is a narrative driven game that will be released digitally in an episodic way with each chapter adapting to the decisions you made in previous episodes.
Set in the fictitious town of Arcadia Bay, Life Is Strange follows the story of Max Caulfield who has just returned to town after a five year absence. Learning that a fellow senior at her school has mysteriously disappeared, Max reunites with her long time friend, Chloe, in an attempt to discover the rather unusual truth behind the disappearance. Along the way, Max makes the startling discovery that she has the ability to rewind time.
Toby Palm, a member of the Square Enix Community Team, writes in the Square Enix blog;
…Life is Strange is something entirely different – we’ve teamed up with DONTNOD Entertainment (the guys and girls behind ‘Remember Me’) and they’ve delivered some amazing stuff. Each and every texture in Life is Strange is a hand drawn work of art and every action enacts a butterfly effect – but with the power to rewind time, what would you change? And would it turn out to be a change for the better or worse?
Being a big fan of the Walking Dead and Wolf Among Us, it’s hard not to get excited about this announcement. The game itself sounds intriguing and the enthusiasm from both Square Enix and Dontnod tells me that these two companies are going to do a great job in delivering exciting content.
Life Is Strange will be released on the PS4, PS3, Xbox ONE, Xbox 360 and PC. More details are being released at Gamescon this week so be sure to keep an eye out for it.
