Yesterday, Stardock Entertainment announced their Ship Designer Contest, in which fans of the series can design the ship of their dreams and be entered to win $1000 and the privilege of seeing a fully realized version of their design in Galactic Civilizations 3. Details on the contest can be viewed at this post on Stardock’s website, but here’s the timeline of events for those interested:
- November 5-16: Submissions are open.
- November 16: Submissions close.
- November 19-21: The bracket begins with Round 1, Matchup 1. Voting is open to the community. Whoever gets the most votes advances.
- November 22-24: Round 1, Matchup 2 is open for voting.
- November 25-27: Round 1, Matchup 3.
- November 28-30: Round 1, Matchup 4.
- December 1-3: Semifinals, Matchup 1.
- December 4-6: Semifinals, Matchup 2.
- December 7-9: Final Round! Fight!
- December 10: The ultimate winner is announced.
- December ??: Beta 3 released, adding ship-to-ship combat, the Yor faction, and much more to the game!
Ships can be designed through Galactic Civilizations 3’s in-game ship editor, but entrants do not need to own a copy of the game. All you need is a screenshot of your ship design, made in your own copy of the game, or a friend’s. Entrants must, however, have a free Stardock account in order to submit their design. Ships can be submitted here, after logging in or creating an account.
Galactic Civilizations is available in early access on Steam right now. Get to designing, ship architects!
