SteamOS Beta has added support for AMD graphics cards

by GH Staff

The latest beta version of Valve’s new gaming operating system SteamOS has added support for AMD graphics cards.

SteamOS previously supported only Nvidia graphics cards, but later it has been updated to include support for Intel graphics chips as well.

The latest update features an updated AMD Catalyst driver that allows users with AMD graphics card to be one of the first to experience Valve’s new Linux-based gaming operating system SteamOS.

SteamOS Beta has been released last month and although it is free to download and install, the OS is still in its Beta days and people are experiencing a variety of issues. The most common bugs found in Valve’s new OS include “tearing and poor overlay performance in-game” according to Valve’s Pierre-Loup Griffais.

SteamOS will be the official operating system supported by Valve’s new Steam Machines, some of which were presented at the annual CES 2014 show.

What do you think about the SteamOS? Will it become more popular than Windows and MacOS one day?
