North Beach Games has revealed Stranded Deep 2, a co-op survival sequel built around an endless river, desert biomes, mobile bases, and reactive terrain.

Stranded Deep 2 moves the survival series into a desert wilderness shaped by scorching heat, winding rivers, canyons and dangerous wildlife. The official Steam listing identifies an endless river as the player’s lifeline through that environment.

North Beach Games is both developing and publishing the sequel. Its store description presents basic survival as the beginning of a wider journey built around exploration, discovery and travelling farther into the frontier.

An endless river runs through the wilderness

The defining feature of Stranded Deep 2 is its endless river world. According to the official description, the river cuts through canyons, dunes, and valleys while serving as a lifeline through a much larger wilderness filled with both danger and discovery.

Players will be able to navigate rapids and hazardous stretches of water using either a kayak or a raft. Generated worlds will differ from one another, with the developers stating that no two journeys will be the same. Discoverable resources and wildlife are intended to make exploration an essential part of surviving beyond the riverbanks.

The change in setting also alters the environmental pressures surrounding the familiar survival framework. Health, hunger, thirst, and exposure must all be managed, while scorching heat becomes one of the explicitly identified threats within the desert landscape.

Your home can travel downriver

Rather than forcing players to abandon everything whenever they move into a new area, Stranded Deep 2 will allow them to construct a floating home on the river. Resources can be scavenged and turned into tools or building components, after which the completed base can be packed up and transported to another stretch of water.

Players can instead choose to settle along the banks, but the central promise is that everything they build can accompany them when they move. That mobile-base system connects shelter construction directly to river exploration, reducing the separation between establishing a home and continuing into unfamiliar territory.

Crafting will also depend on the materials discovered during those journeys. Players can select materials for individual parts of their tools, apply the same approach to structures, and upgrade or customize gear as better resources become available.

Wildlife, terrain, and water respond to players

North Beach Games says animals will roam, hunt, and participate in a food chain in which the player is not the dominant creature. The feature suggests that wildlife will function as part of a broader survival system rather than appearing solely as isolated enemies or resources.

The landscape itself can also be modified. Players will be able to dig into terrain, reshape parts of the environment, and redirect the river. The official feature list says the world reacts to these interventions, although the reveal does not yet define the full limits or consequences of altering its terrain and waterways.

That combination of moving water, wildlife behavior, material-based crafting, and portable construction gives the sequel several interconnected systems. Whether those systems create lasting environmental consequences will depend on implementation details that have not yet been disclosed.

Players can create and share locations

Stranded Deep 2 will also include a revamped version of the Cartographer editor. Players can use it to create locations and experiences, add those creations to their worlds, and share them with friends across platforms. The store page says those creations can be shared with friends on any platform, while the game’s release date and platform lineup remain unannounced.

North Beach Games says the sequel is designed to grow. Regular updates are planned to add biomes, locations, wildlife and crafting content, but the Steam record currently lists the release date as “To be announced.”
