[UPDATE: trailer was requested to be taken down and announcement may have been a leak]
In a stunning surprising announcement, Capcom reveals a teaser trailer for non other than Street Fighter V, the 5th official game in the long running fighting game series. However, this game will be coming exclusively to PS4 and PC, despite how the Street Fighter IV series has been on Xbox 360 as well as PS3. A teaser trailer has been posted by Maximillian, which briefly shows us glimpses of the new game’s engine and special moves performed by a graphically updated Ryu and Chun-Li. The trailer has since been taken down, but was available at this link.
Update: Here are several screengrabs from the trailer, courtesy of the UK Fighting Games facebook group-
Making this next title PS4 and PC only is certainly a move that’s bound to divide fans, especially those who supported the 360 releases of the SFIV games. Currently, Ultra Street Fighter IV is the latest iteration which released in June 2014 for Xbox 360 and PS3. Capcom plans to hold a big tournament soon to mark the end of the Capcom Pro Tour series and there they will showcase the new Omega mode add-on to USFIV. There’s no word yet if the decision of exclusivity for SFV is final or if it only applies to Japan, since Japan isn’t all that fond of Xbox. But for now, we’ll need to wait for more word from Capcom.
