Super Smash Bros. for Wii U has become the fastest selling Wii U title in U.S. after selling 490,000 physical and digital copies in the first three days. The game is still set to release in both Europe and Japan in the coming weeks, expect the game to become the fastest selling Wii U title in those regions as well. No numbers were announced by Nintendo.
Earlier this year, Mario Kart 8 broke the record for being the fast selling Wii U title, it was also revealed by Nintendo that more that 50% of Wii U owners own Mario Kart 8 with a total of 3.5 million units sold of the kart racer. It seems that Super Smash Bros. for Wii U will reach the same and probably higher market then its racing counterpart. As well with Black Friday coming up and the Holiday season just around the corner, the fighter should surpass Mario Kart 8’s total sales.
Nintendo plans on releasing additional content for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U including returning character Mewtwo. Super Smash Bros. for Wii U is currently available in North America and is planned to release in Europe on Nov. 28 and Japan on Dec. 6.
