Developer Supermassive Games has released more than 7 minutes of gameplay footage from Until Dawn’s demo.

According to a post on the PlayStation Blog, Pete Samuels, executive producer on Until Dawn, said the demo was previously available at gaming conventions for the public to have a hands-on experience with the upcoming horror title.

“Our action sequences are designed to deliver adrenaline-fuelled, exciting, and yet still cinematic sequences of gameplay, whilst keeping you connected to your game and involved in your character’s fate through the decisions you make and the other actions that you take,” he explained.

“As you watch the playthrough, you’ll see that I’m faced with a variety of tests of skill, speed and judgment. Including one moment where I need to keep the whole pad completely still to avoid Sam being detected. It’s that moment in a horror film that we brace ourselves and hold our breath.”

The demo focuses on Hayden Panettiere’s character Sam, one of the eight playable characters in Until Dawn, and demonstrates how the course of a specific segment can be altered by the choices that a player makes.

Last week, Tom Heaton, design director on Until Dawn, said that the horror title’s development was significantly influenced by “classic ‘80s and ‘90s horror movies,” but he also claimed “it’s unlikely that many players will get eight characters through to the end on the first playthrough.”

Starring Hayden Panettiere (Heroes, Nashville and Scream 4), Until Dawn is scheduled to launch sometime in 2015 exclusively for PlayStation 4.
